Behind Again

Once again, I find myself behind in my posts.

We have been on our homeschool journey (officially) now since September 15. I had planned on posting daily about what the girls were learning (me too for that matter) and how we all were adjusting. We go to school Monday through Wednesday, Field trips are on Thursdays and Friday is our makeup day if needed, otherwise we visit the library. The girls LOVE the library and we usually leave with no less than 10 books (per girls) at a time! I need a bigger library book basket.

I am amazed at mom's who homeschool, bake their own bread, plan ahead meals for the whole month, sew their kids clothes and still manage to get it all in a post - DAILY!

If you are one of those moms - can you share your secret?

So, here's to day number 15 of 'school'. Hopefully, I can get first day of school pics up soon.

Emma is beginning to write her numbers. We are officially up to '3'. She can trace all of them. She is beginning to learn the sounds the letters make: m, s, e, a. She loves learning and working in her books (even on 'non-school' days).

Sarah is a whiz! She reads at a third grade level which makes teaching first grade a bit of a challenge. She is bearing with me as I do my best to make sure she really knows what she is reading as well as making sure she understands the phonetics of it all. She enjoys learning and likes it even better when there is some coloring, cutting, and pasting thrown in. Sarah is quick to help Emma with a problem she has (too quick sometimes). :-) She is taking ballet lessons on Wednesdays and is involved in a girls club at the church we have been attending.

Carter likes to color along side his sisters and is quite proud of himself when he makes a mark on the paper. You should hear him squeal! Most often he is down for a nap during school time (this is a blessing for me). If he happens to be up, he is learning quite nicely how to play with his trucks and blocks by himself.

Over all, the experience has been a good one and we are looking forward to many more days of home school.
